About Ace Bakery
Linda Haynes and Martin Connell created gourmet bread and baguettes in their small bakehouse in Caledon, Ontario, using only the purest, most natural ingredients, traditional starter doughs, extended fermentation times, and stone baking. Friends and family who received Linda and Martin’s lovely gifts encouraged them to open their artisan bakery, which they did! In 1993, the ACE Bakery Retail Store & Cafe was established at King & Spadina. Also, Torontonians cherished freshly baked artisan slices of bread every day, and ACE Bakery eventually became the city’s famous corner bakery.
The demand for ACE Bakery artisan bread was at an all-time high, so Linda and Martin decided to capitalize on the trend and create a fully operating bakery at Keele and Lawrence, north of Toronto. Furthermore, ACE Bakery could supply fresh bread to restaurants and grocery shops throughout the city and eventually across North America. Most of their artisan baking is still done at the original ACE Bakery at Keele & Lawrence (1 Hafis Road).
ACE Bakery pieces of bread are now accessible in restaurants and supermarkets throughout Canada, the United States, and even as far away as the Caribbean. They have five bakeries, four in Toronto and one in Gaffney, South Carolina. Moreover, their product line now includes excellent baguettes and specialty loaves, sandwich rolls, gourmet burger buns, granola, and bagels. And they continue to make their items the same way they did at the Bakehouse.
