Since the company first began making them, Cold Stone Creamery cakes have become some of the finest – and most available – ice cream cakes. Unfortunately, the company has no universal list of prices – costs vary by location and factors like distance from distribution centers, how big the store is, and local regulations influence the price. That said, most prices are at least close to the ones we’ll detail below.
For this list, we decided to use the prices closest to 85258, the zip code of Cold Stone’s corporate headquarters, as they were at the time of this review (8/15/18). To check on current prices for your area, visit ColdStoneCakes.com. Remember, most orders need to be placed at least 24 hours in advance, so they have time to make your cake.
Most of these cakes have multiple layers to them, alternating between a solid (like Devil’s Food cake) and the ice cream.

Birthday Cake
$23.99 (8 servings) to $57.99 (40 servings)
Arguably the most iconic cake on their menu – and certainly the sort of ice cream cake people are likely to buy – the Birthday Cake is a simple, delicious choice. Available in four sizes (8, 14, 25, and 40 servings), this choice from the Cold Stone Creamery cakes menu offers Devil’s Food cake topped with Sweet Cream ice cream and generously decorated with white frosting and sprinkles around the sides.
Of course, this cake isn’t limited to birthdays – and if you aren’t sure what to bring to a party or other event, this cake is mild enough to be enjoyed by almost everyone. For that reason, it’s worthy of consideration for most scenarios.
Tall, Dark & Delicious
$22.99 (8 servings) to $29.99 (14 servings)
Most people are willing to accept vanilla – but for those who crave chocolate, there are plenty of other options. This particular cake starts off similar to the Birthday Cake with layers of Devil’s Food cake and Sweet Cream ice cream. From there, however, it begins to diverge sharply. It also has brownies, chocolate ice cream, and Oreo cookies hidden behind the frosting and cascading fudge ganache.
The best part about this cake is that it’s chocolate without being too chocolate. After all, it is possible for there to be too much of a good thing. Speaking of…
Midnight Delight
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
If you have a serious desire for chocolate, this is the cake to order. It features Devil’s Food cake, fudge, and plenty of chocolate ice cream. Chocolate shavings and fudge ganache serve as a topping. It’s quite similar to the previous cake but includes chocolate instead of vanilla wherever possible.
Most notably, this is also one of the cakes with the broadest selection of sizes on the entire menu. With the four-inch petite size at the bottom of the price range, it’s easy to fulfill your dreams of chocolate without having to get a full-size cake.
Cookies & Creamery
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
Here’s another flexible choice – without the overwhelming chocolate of the previous item on this list. The Cookies & Creamery is something of a signature cake for the franchise, and it keeps things simple with Devil’s Food cake, Sweet Cream ice cream, and a generous mix of Oreo cookies. A light white frosting wraps things up.
Cookies and Cream is another flavor that goes over well with most people, and this particular selection from the Cold Stone Creamery cakes line offers a great mix of chocolate and vanilla. It’s hard to go wrong here – few people actively dislike this flavor – so Cookies & Creamery is another good choice if you aren’t sure what to get.
A Cheesecake Named Desire
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
Here’s a cake that breaks away from the rest of the pack. Unlike the Devil’s Food seen on so many of the other choices, this choice brings Yellow Cake to the table instead. The base is topped with raspberry sauce, cheesecake ice cream, and a graham cracker pie crust all wrapped in a raspberry frosting.
It’s different, but different isn’t bad. Most children aren’t as fond of this cake, so we don’t recommend it for events where they’ll be present. We do, however, highly recommend it as an option to surprise your significant other sometime.
Coffeehouse Crunch
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
Is there such a thing as too much coffee? Science says yes. Is this too much coffee? No. The Coffeehouse Crunch cake has layers of Devil’s Food cake and coffee ice cream mixed with Heath Bar and topped with fudge ganache. It’s a little crunchier than most of the cakes listed here, but the coffee flavor permeates throughout to create a rich, delicious experience.
Aside from standing well on its own, we like using this cake to people who are hesitant about drinking coffee. A small slice – small, mind you – can tempt them into trying it. From there, they can join the rest of us as we enjoy our caffeinated bean water.
Peanut Butter Playground
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
If that last cake was too mature for you, here’s something to help you feel like a kid again. The Peanut Butter Playground has Devil’s Food cake topped with Peanut Butter and Chocolate ice cream and generously decorated with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. It’s all wrapped in that delicious fudge ganache.
There’s a little too much chocolate here for some people, but children tend to respond well to it. If you want to know whether or not your child will like it, ask them if they like Reese’s – and that will tell you all you need to know.
For obvious reasons, people with peanut allergies should avoid this cake. If you bring it to a party and you don’t know who will be present and what their allergies are, do everyone a favor and label it as having peanut butter. Alternatively, don’t take the risk and bring a Birthday Cake instead.
Cake Batter Confetti
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
Best described as ‘a birthday cake for adults,’ this choice features moist Red Velvet cake topped with Cake Batter ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, and white frosting. Red Velvet is a bit of an acquired taste, and some people don’t like it, so make sure everyone you plan to eat it with is okay with the choice.
That said, like most of the better options, this particular cake comes with a two-serving option available at a low price. It’s an excellent choice for ending a romantic evening. Just don’t overeat, because it also has one of the highest calorie counts on this menu.
Cookie Dough Delirium
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
You have no idea how hard it was to stop myself from running down to the store the first time I saw this on the menu. Earning its name several times over, Cookie Dough Delirium features Yellow cake and Sweet Cream ice cream, as well as mixed-in cookie dough and chocolate shavings wrapped together in white frosting. It feels lighter than it is, and it’s a popular alternative to Cookies and Cream.
This isn’t the most widely-accepted flavor on the menu, but most people aren’t going to complain. For that reason, we consider it a strong secondary contender, and a good backup if the store can’t make your first choice. (That’s rare, but it has happened.)
Strawberry Passion
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
If you’re seeing red, it might be because this is one of the most brightly-colored cakes on the menu. The base uses red velvet cake, which is topped by strawberry puree and strawberry ice cream set onto a graham cracker pie crust. Fluffy strawberry frosting encases this cake.
Like the other fruity options, this isn’t as popular with children, so think carefully about the group you’re buying for.
MMMMMMint Chip
$13.99 (2 servings) to $62.99 (40 servings)
Mint has always had a loyal following, so it’s no surprise there would be something on the Cold Stone Creamery cakes menu to match. Like most of the cakes on this menu, this particular choice relies on ice cream for the majority of its flavor. The base layer includes moist Devil’s Food cake topped with mint ice cream, chocolate shavings, and a white frosting wrapper.
Like Cookie Dough Delirium, mint isn’t a good first choice if you know what to get, but it works well when it’s either what people want or offered as a secondary choice. You may have some left over, but hey – that means more for you!
